How I keep my indoor cat happy.

Why do I keep my cat indoors? It may seem cruel to some people but it is not, trust me. I live near a busy road, there is no nature near me everything is concrete. I like to keep my cat safe and warm in my home. But how to keep him happy and entertained? These are my personnal advices, I am not a vet so these advices are what work for me!

Pistou, my baby kitty

  • Toys. I play with my cat at least 30 minutes a day. Even more if I can. And I'm not talking about wiggling a toy in the air, I hide the toy behind obstacles, to stimulate his hunting instinct. I really try to mimic what a prey would do. It stimulate him both mentally and physically.
  • Cat tree. Cats like to climb and be high up. A cat tree is perfect for that. I put mine right in front of the window, so that he can look out for birds and humans passing by. I'm using this one I bought on amazon, I highly recommend it, it is very stable and easy to build.
  • Time: I don't work at the moment so I have alot of time to spend with my cat, he watches me when I cook, sleeps on my bed at night, and just cuddles me whenever he feels like it, I'm always available! I am planning on getting a second cat when I start working so that they can entertain each other!
  • A cat friend: Like stated above a second cat will help your little fury friend to be happier, if you are working alot and have the finances please get your cat a friend, but introduce them properly!
  •  Clean litter box: This one seems obvious, but I'll mention it anyway, keep your cat's litter box clean!
  • If you work full time: Buy toys that don't require your presence! Interactive toys are made for you, have a look on amazon!
  • Walking on a leash: You can get your cat a leash, and take him out with it! But you need to train your cat first, have a look on youtube for tutorials on how to do that! Not all cats are made for it so don't worry if it doesn't work out!
Here you go, these are my advices for a happy indoor cat, let me knowin the comments if you have any more advices to keep your kitty happy!
